Donaciano Vigil served under the Mexican government of New Mexico as an officer in the Company of San Miguel del Bado (1834), and as Secretary of the Commendancia General (1835). He also served under the United States government of New Mexico as Civil Governor (1847-1848) during the American occupation of New Mexico prior to its establishment as a territory.
