Roy Ernest Lindquist (b. Feb. 18, 1907, Newton, Mass.-d. Nov. 1986, Fla.), U.S. Army officer, graduated from West Point in 1930. One of his early assignments was with the 35th Infantry Regiment in Hawaii. During World War II, he served as commanding officer, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Europe from 1942 to 1946. In the late 1940s and 1950s, he served with the U.S. Army Group in Athens, Greece; as chief of the Army section, Joint U.S. Military Aid Group in Greece; commanding general, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, Far Eastern Command; commanding general, 3rd Infantry Division in Europe; and on the staff of the U.S. Military Assistance Advance Group in Iran.

Roy Ernest Lindquist was a United States (U.S.) Army officer whose military career was mainly with parachute and airborne troops. After graduation from the United States Military Academy (USMA) in 1930, he had several infantry assignments until 1940 when he was named adjutant of the 501st Parachute Battalion. In July 1941, he was an officer of the Provisional Parachute Group at Fort Benning and later of the Airborne Command at Fort Bragg. He assumed command of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment and served with it through the end of World War II in Europe. In 1948, he was assigned to the U.S. Army Group at Athens, Greece and later in 1949 to the Joint U.S. Military Aid Group to Greece. He became commanding general of the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team in October 1953 as part of the Far Eastern Command. In 1956, he became assistant commanding general of Fort Benning and on March 20, 1957, he was assigned as the commander of the 3rd Infantry Division there. He was designated chief of the Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG) to Iran in 1958. Lindquist resigned from the military in 1960.
