Legal writer and justice of the peace, Lambarde is well known for his Eirenarcha (1581), a hugely successful handbook for justices of the peace. Lambarde also kept a diary of his out-of-court work as a Kent justice for the years 1580-1588 which he titled Ephemeris. His small handbook for constables (1582) was also extremely popular. His discourse titled, Archeion, on the jurisdiction of the law courts was published posthumously in 1635.

From the description of A compendious discourse of all the High Courts of Justice in England and especially of the High Court of Chancery and the jurisdiction of the Lord Chancellor, ca. 1601-1650. (Harvard Law School Library). WorldCat record id: 234444534
