Harry C. Butcher was a broadcast executive and General Dwight D. Eisenhower's naval aide during World War II. He was born in Springville, Iowa in 1901 and graduated from Iowa State College. Butcher established the Columbia Broadcasting System's (CBS) Washington, D.C. radio station and became Washington vice president of CBS in 1934. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1938 and upon being called to active duty in 1942, spent three years with General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He kept a diary of his service with Eisenhower, which became the basis of his book "My Three Years with Eisenhower", which was published in 1946. After World War II, Butcher moved to Santa Barbara, California where he founded the KISB radio and television station and owned a cable television station. Harry C. Butcher passed away in 1985.

Harry Cecil Butcher (1901-1985) was a broadcasting executive, naval officer, and author. He served as a naval aide to Dwight D. Eisenhower during World War II. Prior to his three years of World War II service, Butcher opened the Washington, D.C., Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) radio station. He directed the station from its opening in 1929 until he became a vice-president of CBS-Radio during the early 1930's. After World War II Butcher moved to Santa Barbara, California, where he founded KIST radio and television station and purchased KEY-TV cable news station.
