Raymond McGrath was born in Sydney, where he graduated in Architecture in 1926. He spent most of of his life in Ireland, where for 20 years he was principal architect in Dublin's Office of Public Works. At the time of his death he was Professor of Architecture at the Royal Hibernian Academy. He was joint author of Twentieth century houses (1934) and Glass in architecture and decoration (1937).
