Francis Maseres (1774-1778), a Huguenot born in London, was a mathematician, historian, author, and public official. He was appointed attorney general of Quebec attorney-general of Quebec (1766-1773). In 1773 he was appointed cursitor baron of the exchequer. He became a bencher at the Inner Temple in 1774.
