General Robert Neyland attended Texas A&M and West Point, where he excelled in football, baseball and boxing. He served in World War I, against Pancho Villa in Mexico and in World War II, rising to the rank of Brigadier General. Neyland coached the University of Tennessee Volunteer football team for 21 years.
