Ullman was born in Memphis, TN, ca. 1903; graduated WA Univ. and worked as a reporter for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch; moved to Hollywood, CA (late 1920s) to start a screen writing career; his credits include drama and comedy, but he is best known for more than 190 Three Stooges comedy features; he also wrote short stories and articles; died Oct. 11, 1985 in Los Angeles, CA.
