Ala. Governor, Ala. Senator, U.S. Senator, and U.S. Representative.

Gabriel Moore moved to Huntsville, Ala. from N.C. in 1810. He served in the territorial legislature and was a member of the 1819 Alabama Constitutional Convention. From 1819 to 1821 he served in the Ala. Senate and in 1821 was elected as a Representative to the U.S. Congress. Moore held that office until 1829 when he was elected Governor of the State of Ala.

Governor Moore resigned in 1831 to take a seat in the U.S. Senate. As Governor, Moore was a Jacksonian, but he broke with that faction over the appointment of Martin Van Buren as Minister to Great Britain. His Ala. constituents were displeased and Moore was defeated for re-election in 1836. He moved to Texas in 1843 and died two years later.
