Julian Jacob Jackson was born on November 11, 1908. He attended Englewood High School on the south side of Chicago, and entered the University of Chicago in 1926. Jackson received a PhB in June 1931, and transferred to the graduate division in 1934. He left without receiving any further degrees.
Eleanor Jackson was born on December 20, 1912 in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Kansas City Junior College, and entered the University of Chicago in 1943. She was married to Julian by the time she began college. Eleanor left the University of Chicago two physical science credits short of graduating in 1947.
The couple worked together at the Julian J. Jackson Agency, a public relations and advertising firm based in Chicago. Before joining the agency as account executive, Eleanor Jackson was a member of the board of the Midwest Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Together the Jacksons wrote Dentists to the World: Illinois's Influence on the Growth of the Profession in 1964.
