Hide Profile

Rainer had emigrated to the U.S. around 1935. She was apparently a good friend of Alma Mahler; it is not clear whether they knew each other before their respective emigrations. From 1937 to 1940 she was married to Clifford Odets, who worked with Franz Werfel at one point on an adaptation of Jacobowsky und der Oberst. In 1944 or 1945 she married the publisher Robert Knittel.
