Massachusetts Peace Society (1816-1838)(MPS I) was organized chiefly by Noah Worcester in 1815; MPS I participated in the founding of the American Peace Society; was absorbed into the American Peace Society between 1820 and 1845. The Massachusetts Peace Society (1911-1917) (MPS II) was founded in 1911 as a branch of the American Peace Society and was active until 1917. The object of the society was to promote international good will and peace and to educate public opinion in favor of arbitration and other pacific methods as a substitute for war. The group advocated Belgian famine relief and antipreparedness for war.
