Abraham Merzbacher (1812-1885) was one of the leaders of the Munich Jewish community and an expert in numismatics, as was his son Eugen Merzbacher (1845-1903).

Elisabeth Kitzinger, née Merzbacher (1881-1966) was the daughter of Eugen Merzbacher. She worked for Jewish welfare organizations in Munch as an organizer and director of ‘Israelitische Jugendhilfe Muenchen’, a home for Jewish youths. She emigrated to Palestine in 1939, to the United States in 1947, and died in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 1966.
