Charles Crodel was a German painter and designer. Born in Marseille, he returned to his parents' native Germany to study art history at the University of Jena. He travelled widely, and took several teaching positions; he created murals, paintings, and stained-glass windows, later working on tapestries, mosaics, ceramics, and enamel. Crodel also wrote a children's book, and continued teaching, in Germany and the United States, and was affiliated with Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, 1951-1973.
