Long, Frederick E.

Frederick E. Long was the treasurer of the Boston Base Ball Club (ca. 1871-1888) and Boston's Players' League club (1890). During his tenure, the Boston baseball team started as a part of the National Association and in 1876, became one of the original National League teams. In 1890, the Players' League established a team in Boston, taking many of the Boston National League players with it.
