A collection of forty Hadiths (deeds and sayings of the Prophet Muḥammad) intended to summerize the Islamic doctrines, selected by al-Nawawī (a famous and prolific Muslim scholar from the village of Nawá in Ḥawrān, Syria, an authority on Hadith and Islamic law) mostly from al-Bukhārī's al-Jāmiʻ al-ṣaḥīh and Muslim ibn al-Ḥajjāj al-Qushayrī's al-Jāmiʻ al-ṣaḥīḥ. The selection is followed by "Bāb al-Ishārāt ilá ḍabṭ al-alfāẓ al-mushkilāt" (A chapter on the explanation of the difficult and problematic words in the selected Hadiths) (folios 5b-7b). Provenance and date not mentioned, probably copied in the 18th century.
