Biographical/Historical Sketch

Oliver earned his a.b. in engineering at Stanford University in 1935, studying with Frederick Terman. After graduate work at the California Institute of Technology, he joined Bell Laboratories. In 1950 He joined the Hewlett-Packard company as director of research.
