Thomas E. Bramlette was born in Cumberland County, KY, in 1817. He was a elected a member of the KY state legislature in 1841 and served as a KY state court judge in 1856. He was a colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War and a U.S. District Attorney for Kentucky in 1863. He served as Governor of Kentucky, 1863-67. He died in Louisville, KY, in 1875.
