Margaret Landon: missionary, author; born Margaret Dorothea Mortenson, September 7, 1903; graduated from Wheaton College (Ill.), 1925; missionary to Thailand until 1937; headmistress of Anakul Satri Girl's School during that time; wrote fiction and nonfiction; her most significant novel, Anna and the King of Siam, published in 1944 and adapted into a film and the musical, The King and I; died on December 4, 1993.
