Mathematician and physicist. McAulay was the first Professor of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Tasmania, Australia 1896-1929 after being Lecturer 1893-1895. Earlier he had been a lecturer in mathematics at Ormond College, University of Melbourne, Australia, after graduating from Cambridge in 1886.
