Sir Timothy Augustine Coghlan (1856-1926) is noted mainly for his works on Australasian statistics. He was N.S.W. Government Statistician from 1886 to 1905, and thereafter (with short breaks) Agent-General for N.S.W. in London. He also undertook tasks in connection with old age pensions, N.S.W. friendly societies, federation, electoral subdivision, the Public Service Board and the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science.
