Emanuel Geibel was a German author, and one of the most popular poets of his day. A good technical poet, his most popular works were probably romantic poems of wanderlust; his verse was read and admired throughout Germany, by all classes of people. His popularity has decreased, however, perhaps due to the slight nature of his work.

From the description of Emanuel Geibel poems / translation from the German by Lady John Manners, ca. 1860. (Pennsylvania State University Libraries). WorldCat record id: 53432465
