The Church of Christ at Concord was organized in 1635 and after the American Revolution reorganized as First Parish in Concord. This church was originally Congregregational but became a Unitarian-Universalist church in 1996.

Unitarian church in Concord, Mass., organized 1636. 1st ministers: Peter Bulkeley, John Jones. Original meeting house built across Lexington Rd. from present church location. 2nd meeting house built 1667-1673. 3rd meeting house built 1711, renovated 1791 & 1841, burned 1900. 4th meeting house built 1900-1901. During ministry of Daniel Bliss, 1739-1764, some parishioners.

(Cont.) left to form separate church, which met at Black Horse Tavern. In 1774 & 1775, church used for Provincial Congress meetings, in 1775 & 1776 for classes of Harvard College, which had been removed from Cambridge for safety of students. In 1826, members desiring a more conservative form of worship than Unitarianism of First Parish broke away to establish Trinitarian Congregational Church. Church officially separated from municipal government in 1856.
