Mary Magdaline "Maggie" Miller began working in mill in Lanett, Ala., owned by the Lanier family, at the age of 17. She started out filling batteries and later went to the weaving room. Mrs. Miller worked in the mill over 20 years and later worked at the Kessler Company.
