John William Wright Patman (1893-1976) was a U. S. Representative from Texas, serving from March 4, 1929 until his death on March 7, 1976. At various point in his congressional career, he was Chairman of the Select Committee on Small Business, the Joint Economic Committee, the Joint Committee on Defense Production, and the Committee on Banking and Currency. Before his election to the U.S. House of Representatives, he was an assistant county attorney in Cass County, Texas, a member of the Texas State house of representatives, and district attorney of the fifth judicial district of Texas.
