Samuel Echt was born in Norgau, East Prussia (now USSR), on July 17, 1888. A teacher, historian, and Jewish communal leader in Danzig, he emigrated to Great Britain in 1939 and to the United States in 1948. He died in New York City on November 12, 1974.

Bernhard Kamnitzer was born in Dirschau (now Tczew, Poland) on October 25, 1890. He worked as a lawyer and served as a judge, legislator, and senator in the Free City of Danzig. He emigrated via Great Britain to the United States in 1938, where he was co-founder and president of the American Danzig Association. Kamnitzer died in New York City on July 15, 1959.
