British writer.

Caroline Lamb was born into an aristocratic English family, and raised by her aunt, the Duchess of Devonshire. Unconvential, headstrong, and histrionic, the adolescent Caroline was allowed to run wild, at the expense of formal education. Her marriage to Viscount Melbourne--future Prime Minister--was long-lived but troubled. Her brief but intense affair with Lord Byron led to extreme and often public action on her part, especially after Byron ended the affair. Caroline's revenge, her novel Glenarvon, was a barely disguised record of the affair and a scandalous portrayal of Byron.

From the description of Caroline Lamb letter to Jos. Lancaster, 1815. (Pennsylvania State University Libraries). WorldCat record id: 55944441
