Gold Medal winner in the 1924 Olympics and a member of the Physical Education Department at Oberlin College (1928-1959). Kinsey was born in 1902 in St. Louis, Missouri, and received his education at the University of Illinois, earning a B.S. degree in 1926. He also attended the University of Chicago and George Williams College. Kinsey earned the M.A. from Oberlin in 1935 and the Ph. D. from the University of Michigan (1937). At Oberlin, he coached cross country, track and field, wrestling, and fencing. He was a professor and coach at Earlham College (1960) and Delta College (1961-67), retiring in 1967. He and his wife, Dorothy Gross, had two children. Kinsey died in 1970.
