Andrew Strong White, nephew of Cornell University President Andrew Dickson White, received B.A. and LL.B. degrees from Cornell in 1888 and 1893. In 1918 he married [Nellie] Claire Howard, who studied opera in Europe and performed recitals in the United States and abroad under the professional name Claire Alcée. Mr. White practiced law in Syracuse, New York, and managed his family's real estate holdings.
