Creed Cheshire Hammond (b. Oct. 9, 1874, Eugene, Or.-d. Apr. 2, 1940), Major General in the U.S. Army, was a college graduate who worked in business and was deputy sheriff of Eugene, Oregon before serving with the U.S. Volunteers in the Philippines and Spanish-American War, and as a colonel with the Coast Artillery Corps during World War I. After the War, he was assigned as Chief of the Militia Bureau and also served as insular auditor of the Philippines.
