Robert F. Overmyer (b. July 14, 1936, Lorian, OH–d. March 22, 1996, Duluth, MN) was a test pilot and astronaut. In 1969 he became a NASA astronaut and served support crew duties for the Skylab program and Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. He served as pilot for Colmbia in 1982 and commander of the Challenger in 1985. Overmyer died on March 22, 1996, in the crash of a light aircraft he was testing.
