Journalist Oscar Odd McIntyre was born in Missouri, and began working as a journalist while still in high school. He moved to Ohio, and later New York, continuing his career as a reporter and columnist. His pioneering efforts as a syndicated columnist made him one of the most widely read writers of his time. His columns often focussed on his boyhood in Missouri, and he developed the first Broadway column with news and anecdotes about celebrities and entertainment in New York. He also wrote several books.
