Paul Rand was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1914. He was a professor of graphic design at Yale University from 1956 until his retirement in 1985. He achieved the title of professor emeritus in 1993. Rand is known for his work in the field of trademark design. He was the art director for numerous publications and consultant to many corporations and advertising agencies. Rand died on November 26, 1996, in Norwalk, Connecticut.
