Indiana native and orthopedic surgeon. Thompson served in the U.S. Army Ambulance Service during World War I. He returned to Indiana University to complete his medical training, and established a practice in Indianapolis. He helped organize the 32nd General Hospital unit during World War II and served in England, France, Germany, and Belgium. In 1945 he returned to Indianapolis where he did medical research and taught orthopedic surgery at the Indiana University Medical Center.
