Author and activist Sidney Webb, along with his wife Beatrice, was an influential force for social reform in Great Britain. A brilliant student, he earned a law degree and held political aspirations. He was won over by Socialist ideals, and became a prominent member of the Fabian Society. He met and married Beatrice Potter, and the pair became an unprecedented force in social reform, writing numerous influential works, serving on government commissions, giving countless speeches, and conducting important research.
