Author and theologian born in London and educated at St. Paul's School.

Received his B.A. in 1705, his M.A. in 1708 and his D.D. in 1726. He served as vicar in Godmersham Keat, as rector of Dry Drayton, Kent and as rector of Rayleigh, Essex in 1718. A latitudinarian, he was a voluminous writer of the school of Bishop Hoadley.
