Harold C. Whitehouse (1884-1974) was an American architect who worked primarily in the Pacific Northwest. Notable buildings designed by Whitehouse include the Music Building, University of Washington; the Fine Arts Building, University of Washington; Anscortea Hospital, Anscortea, Washington; Women's Dormitory, Gonzaga University; Lincoln Office Building, Spokane; and United General Hospital, Sedro Wooley, Washington. He also designed Episcopal churches in small towns throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Harold Whitehouse came to Spokane and practiced architecture in partnership with George Keith until 1914. The young firm produced many residences and business buildings, particularly in Spokane. In 1914, Whitehouse joined with Ernest V. Price (1881-1975) in a partnership that designed some of Spokane’s most notable structures, including the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, the Hutton Settlement, and early buildings for Whitworth College. Elsewhere in the Northwest, projects included buildings for the University of Washington, University of Idaho, and Washington State College, and more than 200 churches. Whitehouse’s expertise on architectural ornament and the integration of art and architecture made him unequally qualified and sensitive for the thoughtful and consistent design of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Harold Whitehouse was born in 1884 in Somerville, Massachusetts and attended Cornell University where he took a study tour of Europe under H. E. Phalps. He began practice as a draftsman in 1902 for Fox, Jenney and Osle. In 1908 he became a partner in Keith and Whitehouse. Mr. Whitehouse is registered in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington; and had been president of the Spokane, Washington chapter of the A.I.A.

Some notable buildings designed by Mr. Whitehouse include the Music Building, University of Washington; the Fine Arts Building, University of Washington; Anscortea Hospital, Anscortea, Washington; Women's Dormitory, Gonzaga University; Lincoln Office Building, Spokane; and United General Hospital, Sedro Wooley, Washington. He also designed Episcopal churches in small towns throughout the Pacific Northwest.
