Walter T. Steilberg was born on May 12, 1886. Upon receiving his architecture degree from UC Berkeley in 1910 he worked for Julia Morgan for a year. He rejoined her practices in 1918, and continued to consult for her through the 1930s even after he left to start his own practice. During World War II, Steilberg kept in touch with Julia Morgan when he relocated to Alaska. During the 1950s, he worked extensively in Saudi Arabia. Steilberg died on December 6, 1974.
