Condorcet was a French philosopher, mathematician, and politician. Member of Legislative Assembly (1791) and president thereof (1792). Member of the National Convention, and of the Girondists (1793). Arrested with others of the Girondist group; died in prison. Turgot was a French statesman and economist.
