Endicott Peabody (b. 1920), lawyer and Massachusetts political figure, was Governor of Massachusetts from 1963 to 1965, Assistant Director of the Office of Emergency Planning from 1967 to 1968), and a Vice Presidential candidate in 1972.

Also known as "Chub," born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, February 15, 1920; attorney; Democratic leader in Massachusetts and New Hampshire; governor of Massachusetts, 1963-1965; unsuccessful candidate for United States senator from Massachusetts, 1966; first person to try (unsuccessfully) to run for the Democratic nomination for vice-president; moved to Hollis, New Hampshire, 1983; unsuccessful candidate for New Hampshire state representative, 1984; unsuccessful candidate for United States senator from New Hampshire, losing to Republican Warren Rudman, 1986; unsuccessful candidate for vice-president, 1992; began work on the Peabody Amendment (allowing voters to elect the vice-president separately from the president); died December 2, 1997.
