Edward J. Gay III (1878-1952) was the son of Andrew Hynes Gay (1841-1914) and Lodoiska Clement (1843-1933), and grandson of Edward J. Gay (1816-1889), who represented Louisiana's 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives (1885-1889) and owned St. Louis Plantation near Plaquemine, La. He married Gladys Fenner (1883-1970) of New Orleans. Edward J. Gay III served as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives (1904-1918) and a U.S. Senator for Louisiana (1918-1921). His descendants ran St. Louis Plantation.
