Yates was an English novelist, and founded THE WORLD, a weekly society newspaper in 1874.

Edmund Yates was a Victorian journalist, novelist, lecturer, comic versifier and playwright. He was a friend of Dickens, and co-founder, owner and editor of the weekly newspaper "The World."
