Rainier Maria Rilke was a German author, best remembered for his fine body of verse. Rilke's poetry often reflects his personal spiritual and philosophical quest for cohesion and sense. He remains one of the most widely translated modern poets, which speaks as much to the depth and diverse interpretations of his work as to the high quality.
