William Fulton McKee (1906-1987) was born in Chilhowie, Virginia. He received his commission in the Coast Artillery Corps from West Point in 1929 and later advanced to the rank of brigadier general in February 1945. His positions in the U.S. Air Force include Vice Commander of the Air Materiel Command from 1952 to 1961, Commander of Air Force Logistics in 1961 and 1962, and Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force from 1962 until his retirement in July 1964.
