Lionel Lindsay, 1874, was an artist, journalist and art critic. Frederick Jordan, 1881-1949, became Chief Justice of New South Wales in 1934 and was appointed Lieutenant-Governor in 1938.

Sir Lionel Lindsay, etcher, water colour painter, wood engraver and art critic was born in Creswick, Vic. in 1874. He was a brother of Norman and Daryl. He studied art at the National Gallery School, Melbourne and worked on the Evening News (Sydney) from 1903 until 1926. From 1926 until 1935 he worked in Europe. His publications include The life and art of Conrad Martens (1920), Twenty one wood cuts (1924) and Addled art (1942). Lindsay died in 1961.
