As one of Hollywood's most popular child stars (1930s), he appeared in films such as The Champ (1931), The Bowery (1933), and Treasure Island (1934). In the 1940s, he started a successful television career as actor, producer, director, and executive and served as vice president in charge of TV program production at Columbia Pictures (1964-69). The winner of two Emmys, Cooper's numerous television credits include The People's Choice, The White Shadow, and M*A*S*H . He retired in 1989, though continued to contribute to the entertainment industry.
