First Chief Justice of Western Australia. Attorney General of the Island of St. Kitts in the West Indies, 1849-1860. In 1861, appointed Commissioner of the Civil Court and the Court of Quarter Sessions at Perth and arrived in W.A. with his family on the "Hastings". Knighted in 1873. He died in office in 1879.
