New York Teachers' Anti-War Committee.

Hide Profile

The New York Teachers' Anti-War Committee was affiliated with the American League Against War and Fascism. The Committee was concerned about the increase in spending on armaments concurrent with reductions in spending for education, and also about biased treatment toward anti-war teachers by the New York City Board of Education. The organization strongly opposed military training in public schools, requirements of loyalty pledges by teachers, and retrenchment in funding of education.
