Ray Osrin was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 5, 1928. He studied at the Art Students League 1945-1947 and worked as a freelance comic book illustrator, television animator and ghost artist for several comic strips from 1945-1957. He then became staff artist for the Pittsburgh Press 1958-63. In 1963 he became staff artist at the Cleveland Plain Dealer and three years later he was named the paper's editorial cartoonist. Osrin retired from the Plain Dealer in 1993 and died in Delray Beach, Florida, on April 3, 2001
