British author and poet.

From the description of Letter, 1942 May 2. (Washington State University). WorldCat record id: 29853286

Richard Church was a British author and critic, known as a poet and as a writer for young people. Born in the Battersea dictrict of London, he was educated at public schools in Dulwich and at sixteen took a job with the civil service, where he remained for twenty-four years. He published a considerable amount of poetry, then began writing fiction; his work was traditionally English in style and values, and thus rather out of step with his times. Church was also known as a critic and reviewer, and for his three-volume fictionalized autobiography, the first volume being The Porch.
